ReplyDeleteAs a Tabla educator at Tablatheka.com and a great admirer of the Benares style of music, I find that the choice of Tala is so crucial in bringing out the true character of a Raga. The powerful and open sound of the Benares Gharana of Tabla playing, for instance, can give a completely different dimension to a composition in Sarang.
It's great to see a blog dedicated to the rich musical traditions of Banaras. Keep up the excellent work!
